The price of the bus and metro ticket is 1.50 euros if used within 100 minutes. The Leonardo Express train fare is 14 euros, making the bus, metro and train the cheapest Ciampino-Fiumicino option.
There is also a bus from Ciampino airport that transfers you to Ciampino Railway Station where you will have to connect to a Metro Line A train to Roma Termini station where you need to catch the Leonardo Express train to Fiumicino airport.
Private car services like Blacklane and Rome Chauffeur are the most expensive way to get from Ciampino to Fiumicino airport. They need to be booked in advance. Rates vary by company and vehicle type, so it pays to compare prices if booking private cars between the airports. Families with infants prefer the private car service because it offer safety car seats, unlike taxis.

How to Get from Ciampino to Fiumicino Airport by Taxi
As soon as you exit Ciampino airport, the taxi stand will be on your right-hand side. Usually there are a few people waiting in line and a person that hail the cabs.
The taxis at Ciampino Airport operate 24/7. The legitimate taxis are white with the yellow and black TAXI sign on the roof of the car. The symbol of the Municipality of reference is fixed to the front doors and the license number is located on the doors, on the back and inside the vehicle.
The Ciampino – Fiumicino rate is fixed at €52. The ride takes about 23 minutes, but the time depends on the day and time. Traveling during peak hours in Rome will take longer than traveling early in the morning or late at night. The official taxi rates are posted outside on the front passenger door and inside on the back of the front passenger seat.
Most taxis accept both cash and credit cards, so you can choose whichever method is most convenient for you.
The taxi service between Ciampino and Fiumicino airport is perfect for travelers who want to get to Fiumicino quickly and for families and groups of up to four people, as the price of €52 is per car and not per person.
Taxis don’t have car seats for kids. Book a private car service if you need one.

How to Get from Ciampino Airport to Fiumicino Airport by Train
The Trenitalia Ciampino Airlink is a bus service that provides a convenient and affordable transport option between Ciampino Airport and Ciampino Railway Station. Operated jointly by the national rail company Trenitalia and the bus company ATRAL, it combines a short shuttle bus ride from Ciampino Airport with a train to Fiumicino Airport.
The Ciampino Airlink Bus operates Monday-Saturday from 6.05am – 11.40pm and Sunday 6.40 am -10.46 pm. It leaves Ciampino Airport every 20 minutes.
When taking the Ciampino Airlink, travelers first board a dedicated ATRAL bus outside the Ciampino terminal. The bus heads straight to Ciampino Railway Station, without making any intermediate stops along the 10-minute journey.
A major plus of the Ciampino Airlink is its affordability. At just €2.70 each way (children under 4 years old travel for free), the Ciampino Airlink bus it’s one of the cheapest and most budget-friendly options for getting into central Rome from the airport.
At Ciampino Railway Station you will have to board a train to Fiumicino airport. You can buy the ticket in advance at https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html. As of this writing, the train ticket price to Fiumicino airport is €11 if you will only be taking regional trains or €15 if you ride the Leonardo Express for the last leg of the trip.
Keep in mind that there is no direct train from the Ciampino train station to Fiumicino airport. Depending on the ticket you choose, you will have to make one or two transfers. The train stops where you will have to connect will be listed on your ticket.
In the screenshot below, you can see an example of a ticket where you will have to connect at Termini Station to the Leonardo Express to Fiumicino Airport.
In the upper left corner are the names/numbers of the trains: 12700 and Leonardo Express. Next to the train names and numbers is the travel time – 1 hour 9 minutes. Next to the travel time is the number of transfers (1 change). Next to the number of transfers is the train ticket price – $18. Under the train number is the departure time from the Ciampino train station – 6:13am. Under the departure time are listed the train stops where you will have to connect – the Roma Termini station in this example, and the final destination – Fiumicino Airport.
So in this ticket example, you would take train 12700 from Ciampino Station, transfer at Roma Termini Station, then take the Leonardo Express train to Fiumicino Airport. The full trip would take 1 hour and 9 minutes with 1 transfer in between, and the ticket price is €15.50.
In the screenshot below, you can see an example of a ticket where you will have to connect twice – at Termini Station and Rome Trastevere Station to Fiumicino Airport.
In this ticket example, you would take train 12700 from Ciampino Station, transfer to train 12500 to Rome Trastevere Station, then take train 20409 to Fiumicino Airport. The full trip would take 1 hour and 20 minutes with 2 transfers in between, and the ticket price is €11.
The total cost of the bus and train Ciampino to Fiumicino airport trip is €13.70 (€2.70 + €11) or €18.20 (€2.70 + €15.50).
Total travel time: 1h 40m (10 min to Ciampino train station and 1h 30m to Fiumicino airport).
How to Get from Fiumicino Airport to Ciampino Airport by Bus?
There’s no bus service that directly connects Ciampino Airport to Fiumicino Airport. However, the bus services from Ciampino Airport connect to different train and metro stations where you have to transfer onto the subway to Roma Termini Station to connect to the Leonardo Express train to Fiumicino Airport.
ATAC Bus Service to Subway Stations of Metro Line A and B
ATAC operates two bus lines, 520 and 720,that connect Ciampino Airport to a metro/subway station.
Bus 520 runs every day from 5:30am to 11:30pm with a frequency of 20 minutes and connects the airport to the Line A Cinecittà and Subaugusta metro stations. You will have to get off at Termini subway station. If you get on the subway at Cinecittà Station, Termini Station is the 15th stop. If you get on at Subaugusta Metro Station, Termini Station is the 14th stop on the subway line. You can see a map of Metro Line A below:
Bus 720 connects to the Laurentina metro station (Line B). You need to get off at Termini Station, which is the 12th stop of the subway line. You can see a map of Metro Line B below:

To get to the bus stop, after you leave the airport, continue straight ahead and the bus stop will be on your left. If you can’t find it, ask the Carabinieri outside of the airport.
The ticket price as of writing this article is 1.5 euros. It’s called a BIT Ticket (Biglietto Integrato a Tempo) and it’s valid for 100 minutes from the time you validate it. Once you’re at a subway/metro station, you can transfer to Metro Line A or B without needing a new ticket, as long as you’re within the 100-minute window.
Just make sure to validate your ticket when you first board the bus at Ciampino airport. When you transfer to the metro, you’ll need to insert the same ticket at the metro turnstile for access.
The BIT ticket must be purchased prior to boarding the bus (bus drivers don’t sell tickets). ATAC tickets can be purchased from the yellow and blue vending machines with the ATAC logo on them inside Ciampino Airport.

How to Get from Termini Station to Fiumicino Airport
If you choose to take the bus and subway or shuttle bus to get to Termini Station, you will need to transfer once again at the station to the Leonardo Express train to Fiumicino Airport.
Once you get to Termini Station, you will need to catch the Leonardo Express train to Fiumicino Airport.
The Termini metro station is located below Termini Railway Station, which is where the Leonardo Express train departs from. If you took the subway, you will need to take the stairs or elevator from the metro station up to the rail station to get to Leonardo Express Platforms 23 and 24.
You will have to walk to Roma Termini Station if you take a shuttle bus from Ciampino Airport. To get to the station you can use the Google Maps app on your phone. The address of Termini Station in Rome is Via Giovanni Giolitti, 40, 00185 Roma RM, Italy.
Once you are inside Termini Station, head to platforms 23 or 24. These platforms are dedicated to the Leonardo Express trains. You can find them by following the signs for “Fiumicino Aeroporto” or “Leonardo Express”.
Look for the bright red Leonardo Express trains. They have the train name and destination prominently displayed on the side. Wait for the train to arrive and board through any open door. There are no assigned seats on the Leonardo Express, so feel free to sit wherever you find an available spot. Dedicated seating and bathrooms suitable for people with reduced mobility are provided on all Leonardo express trains, and guide dogs travel free of charge.
A single ticket for the Leonardo Express costs €14 and children under the age of 4 travel for free. For every paying adult, one child over 4 and under 12 years of age can travel for free. You can buy tickets for the Leonardo Express in several ways:
Ticket machines: These are located throughout Termini Station, including near train platforms 23 and 24. The ticket machines have English language options and accept cash, credit cards, and debit cards.
Ticket office: There is a ticket office located on the main floor of Termini Station. The staff speaks English and can sell you tickets for the Leonardo Express.
Online: You can purchase tickets online in advance from the Trenitalia website or app (Android download, iOS download). This can be a good option if you want to avoid the queues at the ticket machines or office.
Once you have your ticket, you must validate it before boarding the train. To do this, find one of the yellow validation machines on the platform. Insert the train ticket into the slot and press the green button. You will hear a beep and see a timestamp printed on your ticket. This proves that you have paid for your trip and allows you to travel on the Leonardo Express train.
Leonardo Express is a direct train between Termini Station and Fiumicino Airport that runs every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes during off-peak hours. The ride from Termini Station to Fiumicino Airport takes approximately 32 minutes.
How to Get from Ciampino Airport to Rome by Bus Shuttle Service
There is no direct shuttle bus service between Ciampino and Fiumicino Airports. The shuttle bus services connect Ciampino Airport to Rome’s city center, where you will need to get off the bus and transfer to the Leonardo Express train to Fiumicino Airport.
These bus services operate every day, from Monday to Sunday. Tickets can be purchased online at the websites of the shuttle bus companies, at the authorized agents located in the Arrival Terminal or on board the bus.
All the shuttle bus stops are opposite International Departures.

Private car service is similar to taxis – the fare from Ciampino to Fiumicino airport is fixed and you don’t have to share the ride with strangers. The main differences are that:

- You have a choice of a wide range of vehicles – from more luxurious ones to vans that are perfect for larger groups.
- Private car services offer safety car seats for children, but you have to request it when making the reservation.

How to Get from Ciampino Airport to Rome by Rental Car?
You can rent a car at Ciampino Airport and return it at Fiumicino Airport but be aware that one-way rentals may incur additional fees.
Most major car rental companies operate at both Ciampino and Fiumicino airports. You can book your rental car online in advance or when you arrive at the airport.
If you decide to book when you arrive at the airport, know that car rental desks are located at the entrance of the airport (Via Mameli) inside P6, P8 and P12 parking areas. There is a complimentary shuttle service to/from the Terminal.
Be sure to check the specific terms and conditions of your rental agreement before you book. This will let you know what the one-way fee is and whether there are any other restrictions on one-way rentals.
Some car rental companies may not allow one-way rentals at all. This is more likely with luxury or specialty vehicles.

How to Get from Ciampino Airport to Rome Using Car Sharing Service
Car sharing services allow you to “rent” cars for short periods like hours or days, often through an app.
The following two car sharing companies operate at both Ciampino and Fiumicino airports – Enjoy and Share Now.
Use the apps to reserve and collect a car directly at the car park.
The Car Sharing service is available at car park P5 at Ciampino Airport. Entry to the Short Stay car park at Terminal 1 at Fiumicino Airport, where you can return the car, is permitted automatically by reading the car number plate.

Enjoy Car Sharing
With Enjoy car sharing service you can rent a vehicle per minute, hour or day. The rate depends on the type of vehicle.
The per minute plan has two vehicles to choose from: the Fiat 500, which can accommodate 2 adults and 2 little kids, and the all-electric XEV YOYO, which can accommodate 2 adults.
The per minute rates for both cars are 0.29€/min with up to 50 km included, plus a 1€ vehicle unlock fee and 0.29€/km in addition to the 50 km included. The maximum fare for 24 hours is 69€, excluding additional km.
The hourly plan has two vehicles to choose from: the Fiat 500, which can accommodate 2 adults and 2 little kids, and the Fiat Doblo, which can accommodate 5-7 adults.
The hourly rates for the Fiat 500 are 0.29€/km in addition to the 50 km included. The 2-hour rate is 16€ (up to 50 km included). The 4-hour rate is 26€ (up to 50 km included). The 6-hour rate is 31€ (up to 50 km included). The maximum fare for 24 hours (excluding additional km) is 69€. The cost for additional minutes is 0.29€/min.
The hourly rates for the Fiat Doblo are 0.29€/km in addition to the 50 km included. The 2-hour rate is 29€ (up to 50 km included). The 4-hour rate is 39€ (up to 50 km included). The 6-hour rate is 44€ (up to 50 km included). The maximum fare for 24 hours (excluding additional km) is 89€. The cost for additional minutes is 0.29€/min.
The daily rates for the Fiat 500 are 49€ for one day, 90€ for two days, 120€ for three days, etc. The cost for additional minutes is 0.29€/min. The cost for each additional km is 0.29€/km.
The daily rates for the Fiat Doblo are 59€ for one day, 110€ for two days, 150€ for three days, etc. The cost for additional minutes is 0.29€/min. The cost for each additional km is 0.29€/km.
Given that the distance between Ciampino and Fiumicino Airport is 31 km, and it takes approximately 30 minutes, if you chose the per-minute plan it would cost you 10€ to get from Ciampino to Fiumicino Airport (0.29€/min * 30 min + 1€ vehicle unlock fee). That’s less than the taxi fare of 52€.
